3 Spiritual Weapons to Overcome Distraction

The toddler cries, facebook pings, the dog barks.  When you’re working on an important project that God has really placed on your heart, it seems distraction looms at every turn.  You fall asleep every time you sit down, or you sit down at the computer to write and words simply won’t come.

spiritual keys overcome distraction

I’m practicing these three keys tonight, as I’ve tried to write this post every night for a week, and had every distraction imaginable, including a spider bite my husband.   (Activated charcoal really helps!)

The first step that I learned in my years of prayer ministry, is to pray, “In Jesus Name, I bind every spirit of distraction that is operating to prevent me from succeeding in this task you’ve put before me, and I declare Your victory for this project.”

It says in the Bible that we have the power to bind and loose.  You can be assured that if the project you are working on will impact people for God, that the enemy will be employing strategies to distract you.   You can read more about spiritual warfare strategies on my friend Sam’s blog.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  Matthew 18:18 NIV

Secondly, I take the Holy Communion, which declares to the supernatural atmosphere the victory that Jesus accomplished on the cross.

I’ve written extensively about receiving the Holy Communion into your everyday life and the life changing testimonies of healing and breakthrough that people have received by doing so.

Thirdly, I pray in tongues until the words begin to flow, or until the prayer that I’m to pray for someone formulates.   I know that this is author, John Bevere’s, favourite method of Writer’s Block Removal.

These tips are short and sweet but very practical and powerful when applied. I hope they make a difference for you, and I’d love to hear from you.
