The Meal That Fills – Day 13

day13communion“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Life more abundantly . . . what does that mean?

The word for salvation in the Greek is sozo: Healed, saved, delivered.   I have worked in the Healing Rooms and with prayer ministries for the past 5 years, to see people set free from depression, health issues and spiritual oppression.  I have seen cases where the enemy has wrecked people’s lives and tried to wreck others, like mine and my sisters, neither of us should be alive right now.

In the Bible, if people were oppressed, Jesus delivered them and often times their sickness was directly related to the demonic power affecting them.   If they were simply sick, He healed them.

Taking communion is a visible way to remind us of the covenant that we are in with Jesus, a covenant that God has had with man since the time of Abraham, and has renewed in the New Testament.  In the Old Testament God has Abraham seal the covenant through circumcision, a shedding of blood and demanded that each male afterwards was also circumcised, but this didn’t mean that each male had a relationship with God.  It did nothing for the heart, only relationship does.

There are so many religions, but do they fill?  Or is it only through this spiritual meal provided for us that we will be filled?

John 6:53

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”

There are so many things in the Bible that we should be filled with: joy, the Holy Spirit, Fruits of Righteousness, the knowledge of God’s Will, the fullness of God, faith and power.   It’s always good to sit down with your Bible and to study, and wow, that whole joy thing, I just totally found a new level of joy when I sat down and studied all the words for joy in the Bible and wrote out the references, and then put together my favourites with their root word meanings in this joy printable.

Even though I’d been raised in a Christian home, somehow being filled with the Holy Spirit never got brought up, and that’s what my book Dad and Me in PNG is about.    Being filled with fruits of righteousness is a beautiful truth that I’m discovering as I’ve been reading through Joseph Prince’s books ‘Destined to Reign’ and ‘Unmerited Favour’.  Big thick books packed to the brim with God’s Word and digging deep into the original context and language of the Scripture.   And being filled with the knowledge of God’s Will, that’s huge and I love Living in the Miraculous by Katherine Ruonala.

If you’re struggling in intimacy with Christ, could you try sitting down with the communion and see what difference this makes?

And tomorrow, let’s look into communion prayers, what can we say to God.
