What Do I Say? Communion Prayers – Day 14

day14communion

We’ve ventured into some incredible territory over the past two weeks, and gosh I can hardly believe how much more we have to cover!   The whole concept of taking communion daily, or more regularly than I have in the past has been such a blessing to us, and it draws my husband and I together at the end of the day before we go to bed, and provides a quiet pause to come before God, and acknowledge the covenant we have with Him and what Jesus did on the cross, along with continuing to claim His divine health.  This is how we have been praying, and it really is ok to use your own words.

I was talking to Robyn Small, my husband’s aunty and also one of the pastor’s at our old church until we moved, who wrote an incredible testimony for us on day 8, about communion and childbirth.   We found a communion testimony in a book, Miracles Happen When You Pray by Quin Sherrer, she was reading but we were both fascinated by the prayers that they prayed.

Coming from a background, which may seem irrelevant to some and inspired to others, different people were rostered on to present communion and a testimony each week, we were both quite interested to look into a set prayer that was prayed in the particular testimony that we read.

The story goes that this woman was hit by a car and was spun out like a baseball landing on the ground, and in incredible pain, with her leg bleeding due to the artery being severed in two places, and a fracture in her skull.  The family thought that she would quite possibly die on the road.  As she prayed on the road peace settled over her the pain left.  Later in the hospital, her priest came to offer her communion, praying with her, the familiar Sunday words:

“Beseeching our merciful Father “to grant that, by the merits and death of thy Son Jesus Christ, and through faith in His blood, we and all thy whole Church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of His passion.  The Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for thee, preserve thy body and soul unto everlasting life.  Take and eat this in remembrance that Christ died for thee and feed on Him in they heart faith,  with thanksgiving.”

The following day when she was scheduled to have surgery for internal bleeding, she did not need it and her skull fracture was healed.   Sharing her testimony caused several other family members to be healed as it is by ‘the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony’ that we overcome.
